Randwick City Council Development Applications Assessment

Randwick City Council commissioned Willana to complete the assessment of  Masterplans, commercial, residential  and heritage development applications. This required meeting with Council Officers, applicants and preparation of comprehensive assessment reports. Some examples of these assessments are detailed below.

Doncaster Village Redevelopment

Willana was commissioned by Randwick City Council to assess the combined Master Plan and Development Application for a major mixed use redevelopment project within the Kensington Town Centre. The site occupies a prominent location and adjoins the heritage-listed Doncaster Hotel. The development comprised ground level retail and commercial suites and 164 dwellings located over eight levels, a valet parking system and the provision of public open space.

The proposal is one of the first major redevelopment schemes to be assessed under detailed planning controls introduced for the Kensington Town Centre in January 2003. Willana’s role required the review of over 300 resident submissions and the comprehensive assessment of building form, groundwater, transport, residential amenity and urban design issues. Central to the assessment were the collation of a range of integrated development referrals and detailed consideration of the proposal’s performance in accordance with the requirements of SEPP 65 and the Residential Flat Design Code.
