2001 Floor Space and Employment Survey
Willana Associates was commissioned by the The City of Sydney to undertake, over 12 months, the 2001 Floor Space and Employment Survey for all commercial and retail premises across the Local Government Area. This covered approximately 3,000 buildings, involving some 206,000 database records.
The information gathered is used by State and Local Government to monitor trends in land use, employment and building characteristics. It provided an important tool for Government to update their planning and policy documents and keep up to date with the changing needs of the city.
The project involved high level negotiation with Building Managers, Government Authorities, Private Business and tenants. The on-going scheduling of building audits, community liaison and coordination of activities were essential to ensure completion of the project on time.
Willana assembled and trained over 30 surveyors and administrative staff to carry out data collection and analysis. Specialised systems were designed by willana's IT Consultant to record, manage and report on the data as it was collected.
