Googong Local Environmental Study –Greater Queanbeyan City Council
The purpose of the LES was to determine the capability and suitability of land within the study area to be rezoned to accommodate urban development.
Willana was commissioned to prepare a land use study, structure plan and draft LEP to support the rezoning of a 1400 ha release area on the edge of the Canberra/Queanbeyan metropolitan area. The study area adjoins Googong Dam, one of two major water supply catchments servicing the ACT and Queanbeyan. The LES included a comprehensive review of planning requirements for a new town with a population of 20,000 people.
